Anova Seafood becomes BSCI member

As per July 1st, Anova Seafood is a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). This initiative brings together global operating companies across different industries, to work together to create ethical supply chains. Being a BSCI member strengthens us in our ambitions to create strong, reliable and resilient value chains in which everyone wins.

The Business Social Compliance Initiative is a leading business-driven initiative for companies committed to improving working conditions in factories and farms worldwide. It unites more than 1,500 companies around a development-oriented system applicable to all sectors and sourcing countries. The ultimate goal of BSCI is to provide companies with the best system to improve working conditions in the global supply chain. It improves the companies performance in several areas such as No discrimination, Fair remuneration, Decent working hours, No Child labour, No Bonded labour, and more.

We recommend all our suppliers from high risk countries to be audited against social standards such as BSCI or equivalent. The audit will provide a stepping stone for further improvement or confirmation of decent working conditions. In 2014, over 60% of our volume from emerging countries came from socially audited suppliers. We expect this to be more than 70% in 2015 and will work with our suppliers to achieve this goal.
